2. Latent TB infection (Inactive TB )

 

People with latent Tb infection have no visible symptoms. The bacteria stay inactive in the body. Latent TB isn't contagious. This infection can turn into active TB, therefore treatment is very important. 

1. Active TB

It makes you sick and can spread to others. Active TB can occur in the first few weeks after infection with the TB bacteria, or it might occur years later.

 

Signs and symptoms of Active TB:

  • Cough lasting 3 weeks or longer

  • Coughing up blood

  • Chest pain, or pain with breathing or coughing

  • Unintentional weight loss

  • Fatigue

  • Fever

  • Night sweats

  • Chills

  • Loss of appetite

There are two different types of tuberculosis.
